Team GB Top the Para Cycling Leader Board & take home our custom made Medals

Team GB topped the medals board in last weekend’s Para Cycling International and took home custom made medals from Medals UK.

The three day event was held at The National Cycling Centre in Manchester and saw the British team take home 24 custom made medals. With 11 being collected on the final climatic day of the event.

There were 2 gold medals for the pairings of Sophie Thornhill and Helen Scott, and Neil Fachie and Pete Mitchell. Jon Gildea and Crystal Lane both took the top step of the podium twice, with both cyclists securing gold medals for the scratch race.

The male scratch race saw a full podium for Team GB with Jon Gildea taking gold, Jaco Van Gass securing a silver and Jon-Allan Butterworth, who’d earlier won a silver in the C4-5 1km time trial, taking home the bronze custom made medal.

The most notable performance of the final day was awarded to Megan Giglia who broke her personal best by more than 10 seconds in the C3 individual pursuit qualifiers.

This is truly a fantastic result for the para cycling team ahead of next year’s Paralympic Games with Team GB taking home: 12 golds, 5 silvers and 7 bronze medals plus securing valuable Paralympic qualifying points ahead of Rio 2016.

We’re proud to have produced the custom made medals for such a prestigious event and for the team to have performed so well to boot! We’re looking forward to next year’s Paralympic Games in Rio already.
