7 Big Actors/Actresses Who Have Won Razzie Awards

If ever there was an award that an actor would like to avoid, its a Golden Raspberry (Razzie Awards). Something of an anti-Oscar in the film world, you might be surprised at some of the big names who have received one.

1. Halle Berry

Fresh of the back of an Academy Award performance in Monster’s Ball, Halle Berry took up the role of Catwoman in 2004. From a critical point of view, this wasn’t Halle’s best decision, with the actress taking home the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actress. Worst Actress wasn’t the only dishonour that Catwoman took home at the 25th Golden Raspberry Awards, with the film also receiving Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay However, all credit to Miss Berry, who graciously accepted the award at the ceremony in person, something that many big stars have refused to do.

2. Eddie Murphy

The Dr. Doolittle Actor returned from the 2007 Razzies with a veritable trophy cabinet of awards for Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Supporting Actress all for his comedy, Norbit. Possibly not an award ceremony that Eddie Murphy will remember with any fondness, Eddie Murphy can at least take consolation in the fact that on the same night, I Know Who Killed Me took home 8 awards, a Razzie Awards record.

3. Kevin Costner

Proof that Robin Hood himself is not indestructible, the Prince of Thieves star, Kevin Costner has taken home the Worst Actor gong three times, for his roles as Robin Hood and also Wyatt Earp and the Postman in their namesake films. Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves’ large fan following might disagree with at least one of those awards but this is unlikely to console poor Kevin. Maybe those three nominations for Best Actor in Dances with Wolves will help?

4. Ben Affleck

Whilst Mr Costner may have been upset with his three awards in total, we expect Ben Affleck may have been more disappointed, having received the Worst Actor award three times in one evening. That’s right in 2003 at the 24th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, Ben Affleck walked away with three Worst Actor wins, for his performances in Daredevil, Gigli and Paycheck. Affleck has since gone on to receive critical acclaim for his role as Actor/Director/Producer in 2012’s Argo and now having landed arguably his biggest role as Batman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we doubt he spends much time thinking about the 2003 Razzie Awards.

5. Jaden Smith

Yep, even poor little Jaden has received a Golden Raspberry for his role alongside his dad Will Smith in 2013’s After Earth. At only 16 years of age, Jaden is the youngest recipient of the Worst Actor Award in the Golden Raspberry’s history, which we can’t help feel must somewhat dent the young mans confidence, even if he is the Karate Kid. Interestingly enough, Will Smith has never received the award, or in fact been nominated, so Smith Jr. may be looking to get some advice from his superstar dad.

6. Sandra Bullock

We can’t help but remember her heartwarming performance in The Blind Side when we hear her name. But surprisingly Sandra Bullock found herself on the receiving end of a Worst Actress Razzie Award for her performance in All About Steve. Like Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock was gracious enough to accept the award in person in 2010 before going on to collect her Academy Award for the aforementioned The Blind Side the very next day. She even took the opportunity to defend both her performance in and the film All About Steve, saying: Š—“Something tells me you all didn’t watch the film because I wouldn’t be here if you really, really watched and understood what I was trying to say.Š—

7. Sylvester Stallone

It may not come as a huge surprise that poor old Sly has found himself on the list. Having won the award for Worst Actor five times including twice in 1985 for Rambo: First Blood II and Rocky IV. In fact, Stallone was such a regular in the Razzie Awards nominations that he eventually received the dubious award for Worst Actor of the Century in 2000 for (as quoted by the Golden Raspberries) ‘99.5% of everything he has ever done’. We think that this might be a little harsh on poor old Sly, after all he did give us the first Rocky film and more recently the hugely entertaining Expendables series.
